About SRHR

Gender Links advances sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) across Southern Africa through advocacy, research and local governance initiatives. We empower women and girls to claim their rights to voice, choice and bodily autonomy. Our work bridges policy gaps, strengthens legal frameworks, and amplifies the voices of marginalised communities, particularly women and LGBTIQ+ individuals, in SRHR decision-making.

When I was 25, I had just set up Namibia's very first Reproductive Justice Clinic. Now, I will be attending a Gender Links Summit which aims to recognize leaders for their advocacy on SRHR & Safe Abortion. Thank you for the platform, and thank you for continuing to hold space for all the diverse intersectional causes across the region.
The penal code review was necessary because, first of all, it was old, from 1886, and second, it was produced based on the social values of Portuguese colonial society. It was necessary to have a penal code that reflects the new social reality in our country.
