Makarabo is deeply passionate about community development activities and for the past 15 years, she has been extremely committed to working with rural communities at the grassroots level. Her extensive experience spans critical areas such as Civic Education Project, where she empowered communities with knowledge of their rights and responsibilities. She has also played a pivotal role in promoting food security, ensuring that families have sustainable access to nutritious food. Furthermore, she has been at the forefront of HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention initiatives, as well as supporting orphans in an OVC project, helping to provide them with care, education and resources they need to thrive.

Makarabo is a committed advocate for media freedom, digital empowerment, and women’s rights in Africa. From 2018 to 2023, she served as a Board Member of MISA Lesotho, where she was an integral part of the Monitoring Media Committee. In this role, she oversaw media outlets, ensuring adherence to ethical standards and promoting transparent and responsible journalism.

In March 2024, Marabo was appointed as a Sab Sahara Ambassador fellow for the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), where she focuses on advancing digital skills across the continent. Her work with UNITAR highlights her dedication to bridging the digital divide and empowering individuals and communities through technology.

Her passion for women’s empowerment led her to establish Liolong Women Empowerment in 2020, an organization dedicated to supporting and uplifting women. Through Liolong Women Empowerment society, she has been instrumental in creating opportunities for women to enhance their skills, engage in income-generating activities, and actively participate in socio-economic development.
