Sheistah has a Masters in International Business and a Bachelor Degree in Sociology with Specialisation in Gender Studies. She joined Gender Links in 2014 has been working on several projects at Gender Links Mauritius. She ensures the smooth running of the diverse short term and long term programmes across Mauritius and is regularly involved in advocacy actions for gender equality with local and international donors. Sheistah also handles the routine finance for the local office and fundraises for projects for Safe Haven and other programme areas.
Sheistah was a Local Councilor from 2012 till 2019. Being an activist, Sheistah has shown proof of willingness to bring change in the lives of women and help in their empowerment.
In 2019, Sheistah was part of the Zanele Mbeki Fellowship Programme and was nominated by Gender Links. She attended the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations in 2019, Youth Consultation workshops by the African Union as well as various other regional and national conferences.
