Tinashe Chipwanya is the Grants Manager for the Women’s Voice and Leadership South Africa project, run by Gender Links. She is a proficient young woman; a game-changer, a motivator who is very passionate about playing a part in the development of women and youth globally. Tina believes that transformation in our communities can only be realized by the effective support of women’s participation in all economic sectors.

Prior to joining Gender Links in South Africa she was involved in women, children and health rights initiatives under the auspices of NGOs like CIVICUS, Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA), the Businesswomen’s Association of South Africa (BWA), Streetlight Schools and the Rural Health Advocacy Project (RHAP). She has been part of cross – cutting programmes that challenge and address the exclusion of women and the discrimination against them in the economic, political, social and cultural spheres.

Tinashe is a skilled professional in the areas of project management, finance and human resources. She is adept at developing and implementing policies, protocols and procedures based on best practice. Her strength lies in being a pro-active leader, constantly ensuring effective financial and administrative decision making that enables the organization to meet it’s long and short term goals.

Her education background is in social sciences; she completed a BA Honours in Development Studies and a BA in Political Science and International Relations at the Witwatersrand University.  She is a qualified Technical Financial Accountant with a diploma in Financial accounting and a Certificate in Management Accounting with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

Tinashe’s current role as Grants Manager involves oversight of grant calls; assessment; due diligence; developing strategies and systems to optimise the grants administration process. She is directly involved in grant submissions by coordinating with grant seeking organisations. In this position she also oversees that grants are implemented according to the operational and financial needs of the organisation, and supervises grantee organisations to ensure proper coordination of work that is aligned to the proposals submitted. She makes sure implementing partners comply with financial policies; donor reporting and statutory requirements. She analyses and reports on budget trends; monitors grantee expenditures against approved budget and programme objectives.
