Chinhoyi is located on the western banks of the Manyame River, in Makonde District, in Mashonaland West Province in central northern Zimbabwe. Its location lies approximately 121 kilometres, by road, northwest of Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe and the largest city in that country. The town lies on the main road, Highway, between Harare and Chirundu, at the International border with the Republic of Zambia, about 250 kilometres, further northwest of Chinhoyi. Chinhoyi is the provincial capital of Mashonaland West. It boasts of a University in the Chinhoyi University of Technology. It is also known synonymously for the natural heritage site, the Chinhoyi caves. The council has a website. Chinhoyi Municipality anchors the hub and spoke programme as the hub council for Mashonaland West urban councils in the hub and spoke programme for gender mainstreaming. Chinhoyi Municipality is establishing market places for small and medium enterprises. The council is also offering sex workers free treatment weekly. The council’s water supply has improved as they supply water for 16 hours daily. In response to COVID19, the council has handwashing points at all markets.
