The council has 25 councillors,3 females and 22 males. Chitungwiza Municipality is dependent on Harare for some services with a vast majority of its inhabitants working in Harare. The council has a website.

The council is a spoke council in the hub and spoke programme for gender mainstreaming, being mentored by Harare City Council.
