Kwekwe City Council is situated in the Industrial hub of the Midlands province. It is also a vibrant mining town. The council has 14 councillors, 9 male and 5 female. Kwekwe City Council policies include gender equality in order to promote the advancement of women. Read more about the council on their website. Kwekwe City Council has established Youth Corners where the Mayor of the town is working with youth to raise awareness around Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights. Kwekwe City Council is a spoke council in the hub and spoke programme for gender mainstreaming. The council is mentored by Gweru City Council.

The council is currently conducting awareness campaigns on prevention of the COVID19 virus.
