Redcliff is a town situated in the Midlands Province of Zimbabwe situated about  220 km south-west of the capital, Harare and 52 km from the Provincial capital Gweru. The town sits in an extremely iron-rich area and has relied on steel production as a source of revenue since it was founded in the early part of the 20th century. The Zimbabwe Iron and Steel Company (ZISCO, formerly RISCO founded in 1942), which is based in Redcliff, is the town’s largest employer. The council has a dedicated website and Facebook page.

Redcliff Municipality has developed a gender policy and has departmental gender focal persons. The council was the best spoke council in the 2020 local government SADCProtocol@Work summit.

The council is a spoke council in the hub and spoke programme for gender mainstreaming. The council is mentored by Gweru City Council.
