Rushinga RDC is a budding local authority in the COE process looking to make great strides in their gender mainstreaming endeavours. The livelihoods of the people of Rushinga are agrarian-based, crops like cotton and maize. Other sources of livelihood include selling fish from neighbouring Mozambique and gold panning.
