Vacoas Phoenix COE

Vacoas-Phoenix is one of the largest towns of the country. The area is composed of two main towns, Vacoas and Phoenix and lies between Curepipe and Quatre-Bornes in the west of Mauritius about 10 miles south of Port-Louis. Vacoas holds its name from a plant whose scientific name is “Pandamus” and which were found in large quantity in the region and Phoenix bears the name of an ancient sugar estate , of which only the souvenir remains now. The town is also endowed with an Amorial Bearing and as motto “ Copia et Concordia” meaning harmony and abundance. Vacoas-Phoenix is also known as the ‘Garden Town’ for it is the traditional supplier of vegetable and flowers.
