Madagascar – Centres of Excellence

SAHA, a rural development association working with local councils, will be supporting the Gender Links Madagascar office in its roll-out of eight new Centres of Excellence on gender mainstreaming in local government. Local government COEs have become one of the vehicles for advancing implementation of the 28 targets of the SADC Protocol on Gender and Development. Emphasis is being placed on increasing the number of women in decision-making positions, addressing gender-based violence, promoting media literacy and local economic development.
