More than 160 participants from all over the country gathered at the International Conference Center of Antananarivo for the first national gender and local government summit and Awards. Organized by Gender Links Madagascar, in partnership with the UNFPA, the BABEO project, the Program SAHA, and the Association of Gender Aware Local Authorities (AESG), this event actually showed the country’s engagement towards ending gender based violence. The national summit saw the participation of international and national organisations, local governments, local authorities, ministries and journalists.
With 166 participants, 24 judges, and four rooms for presentations, the program was full over the three days that were award entries were scrutinised. Twenty four awards were given to winners and runner ups by the end of the event.
Managing hundreds of people is not an easy matter but with willingness and rigor, the partners held the summit with great success.
