The Alliance National Focal Point, Namibia Council of NGOs, (NANGOF) in collaboration with the Alliance Secretariat convened a caucus meeting on 20 April 2011.
Highlights of the meeting was the excitement and energy expressed by participants to revive the Alliance network in Windhoek. The new chief executive officer of NANGOF, Ivin Lombardt, reiterated his personal and professional commitment to gender equality.
The meeting deliberated on governance issues of the Alliance at national level, processes for updating and validating the Gender Protocol Barometer report. NANGOF will be hosting a reference group meeting that will bring together the different civil society stakeholders to score the Namibian government against the targets of the SADC Gender Protocol, and also to identify organisations that will document case studies for the “championing” project.
The meeting brought together over 20 participants from civil society organisations working on gender and development issues. Sectors represented included the media, sexual minority groups, legal, faith-based, health, education, care work and men’s interest groups.
