My love for bees dates back to childhood where we used to search for bee hives in the forests. It was after meeting LUSIP-GEF that I trained as a bee keeper. I found bee-keeping a good practice because it contributes to mitigating the effects of climate change. The swarm of bees goes out to cross-pollinate all trees. Our country currently has a problem of deforestation and bees help contribute in the conservation of indigenous forests through pollinating the trees. People in turn benefit from the trees. As bee keepers are we then understand the environment better and aim to preserve natural forests. Honey from natural forest is graded the first grade, it does not crystalize. That is why we aim at keeping natural forest to always harvest this first grade honey.
