Bitou Joy Club is a support group that was started in 2008 to provide support to those infected an affected by HIV & AIDS.They started a small laundry at St. Monicaâ € ™s church as an income generating project but had difficulties accessing water and electricity. Bitou Municipality then adopted the project by providing them with alternative space at Simunye Centre to operate from. A lease agreement to operate from Simunye Centre for 3 years free of charge was signed in October 2012. Bitou Joy Community project can operate from this space for 3 years without having to pay rent, electricity and water. Bitou Municipality also gave them detergents as a starter pack. The Municipality also bought a truck to enable the group to collect and deliver the laundry of their clients. Bitou Joy Development also started a gardening project at the back of the premises that supply the members of the support group with fresh vegetables. Vegetables are also being supplied on Fridays to the local clinic for the Patients that is on Arvâ € ˜s. The support group also gets fresh vegetables for their Sunday Lunch. 40% of the produce is being sold. A kitchen was built on to the premises for the group to cater for functions.
