Bitou Joy Community Development

Coalition has been built with the Department of Health. Health Care Trust, Municipality. Business Chamber and That’s It. By working together we have managed to do awareness programs in all communities of Bitou and this has been a good success as the community members do go for health screening and testing to the local clinics.

DOH is distributing female and male condoms in all areas and where accessible by community members. Mobile clinics twice a month in rural areas of Bitou/Plettenberg Bay for TB, Hypertension and diabetic screening, Family planning and all types of diseases.

TB and HIV/AIDS patients receiving bunches of fresh vegies while waiting for their treatment ta the local clinic. Home based carers are also playing a big role to do visits to sick people and delivering of medication and treatment to those in need. The circumcision is also a priority as it is now functionally happening every Wednesdays at the central clinic.
We also make a follow up on defaulters and motivate them to take their treatment regularly.

We have approached DOH to accompany the trained volunteers to visit rural areas for health education program and distribution of female and male condoms.
