Tsabong or Tshabong are the administrative centre of the Kgalagadi District, Botswana. It is located in the Kalahari Desert. The population was 8939. The primary hospital in Tsabong serves a huge outlying area and includes several tuberculosis refuges where patients and their families can stay while undergoing lengthy outpatient treatment. Near the town is the Tsabong kimberlite field, one of the largest diamondiferous kimberlite fields in the world. The town is served by Tshabong Airport.

The council has organized equality between men and women in all departments. There are 2 male councilors, 11 female councilors. The, Mayor is a male, and as well as the Deputy Mayor. The council entails of 3 committees of which women chair 2. Additionally, men and women participate in council work by presenting disability committee and health and wellness.

Young people, women, men, people with disability and youth engages in community –based planning projects and meetings. Relatively 26 -50 percent women participate in public consultations.

Of the Total workforce, There are around 4 women, 1 in civil engineering, 1 quantity surveyor, 1 physical planning, and 1 finance.  There are provisions for maternity leave for 3 months, and none for paternity leave. The council does not have a sexual harassment policy.  The cases of sexual harassment are dealt with by involvement of the police and the disciplinary hearing through the labour movements.

The Council’s local economic development plan, it provides poverty eradications projects, for example clients who are doing catering are invited to tender for such events.

Women, men, youth, people with disability are involved in planning management and maintenance of water and sanitation. 14 water and sanitation committees consist of 8 men and 6 women on the committees. A woman chairs 1 committee.
