Summit 2019:Kgalalelo Gambule

Ms Kgalalelo Gambule is a young Motswana woman that hails from Bobonong. She works as a Centre Supervisor at BOCAIP in Gumare, a position she currently holds on a volunteer basis, since donor funding stopped. She describes herself as a leader who is a team player, has good negotiation skills and good interpersonal skills. Ms Gambule envisions a transformed community with knowledge and skills to live healthy, positively and make positive life changes. Ms Gambule has been an active member of the gender committee in her local council for the past 4 years, a position that allows her advocate for women and girls rights.

In her position at BOCAIP she offers counselling to members of her community, creates awareness in the community on HIV/AID and GBV issues. She also contributes to her community by mentoring girls at Okavango Junior School where she has conversations with them around teenage pregnancy, inter-generational dating and whatever else the girls wish to talk about. She is also a facilitator for men’s sector where she revived two of their committees. Ms Gambule has conducted GBV training in her community and also facilitated a pad donation campaign for Okavango Junior School. For her contribution at policy level Ms Gambule contributed to the development of NSF3.

For her next steps she wishes to help women in the Okavango Sub District to start a society that advocates for gender equality, develop a teen mother mentorship program and source funding for smart girls campaign.
