Kadoma City has come up with a deliberate policy to ensure inclusivity at the work place. Employment opportunities in Kadoma City are now open to all,i.e people living with and without disability, female and male can now take up any suitable position previously determined by stereotypes ’.
I am Charity; I went to school at Danhiko in Harare. I am now working at Kadoma City as a Information Technology Intern. The sector has been predominantly for men , let alone a woman with disability . Women had passively accepted it to be so. Families usually give the boy child a phone and send him to college for technical courses leaving a girl child behind. This has left the girl child and female folk behind in terms of technology. This scenario left women with little opportunities to work in the IT sector. Thumbs up for Kadoma City for breaking the tradition! I am the first woman to be employed in the Municipality IT department.
This is a best practise because a conducive environment has been created for a woman with disability to enter a male dominated field. At municipality level, I have added to diversity and social inclusion. To my fellow females with disability I am an inspiration. Thanks to Kadoma for giving me the chance!!!!
