Participation in the budgeting process and resource allocation has promoted learning and active citizenship for the children since they are being involved in something that directly affects them. It has contributed to the attainment of social justice through effective resource allocation as well as inclusion of marginalised groups like the Junior Council, Child led organisation, young children, and also other groups. This has contributed to the deepening of democracy, the government also becoming more responsive to diverse issues of its young people. Child participation has improved transparency and accountability in the allocation of the city and national resources. In so doing the city in general and the nation in particular is able to deal with perennial problems like corruption and greedy since child participation has been effective. On education basis this has made progress because it has offered opportunities to children so that they can learn about various aspects of the society and paving way for development of crucial skills. Gender equality and equity is also being practised during the course of the practise and thus promoting openness, inclusiveness, accountability and active citizenship for the children and other young people. All these major factors are creating a supportive environment for child friendly budgeting. There is relevance and impact analysis and hence the budget is able to respond to priority issues affecting various segments of the population and allocation making a real difference. Key issues that have been advocated for are made sure that they are included in the budget. The initiative makes deliberate effort to mobilize various stake holders especially civil society organisations, women ,children and other young people to come together and form a strong coalition for child responsive budgeting.
