Chongwe District Council

Chongwe District Council became a Centre Of Excellency in 2010.It covered all stages for it to be admitted as a member. This Council has progressed in that it has been able to formulate among other policies a Gender workplace Policy which is very active. The Gender activities are budgeted for in the Council budget. There has been a lot of change due to the formulation and awareness campaigns of gender activities. Previously in as much as there were a lot of gender based violence cases the perpetrators were not reported to the police. However, with the setting up of the anti-gender based violence committees at village level, this has witnessed an increase in the number of gender based violence cases being reported.
