In Rimuka ward 2, unmanaged solid waste has been discovered to emit carbon which is one of the gases which traps heat .The trapping of heat alters local climate by an increase in local temperatures.
For long ward 2 was characterised with heaped waste, garbage behind houses and on roof tops and tall grass along sanitary lanes. This has been declining the aesthetic value and hygienic standards of the area. Heaped waste provided breeding grounds for flies and rodents. Grass diminishes security as it provides hide outs for thieves and dangerous animals like snakes.

Ward 2 is a small ward with a population of about 8366 people and hence they live in overcrowded conditions. Poor waste management and unhygienic practices in crowded areas is usually a time bomb of communicable diseases.

In response to this problem Kadoma City Council conducted training on Community Support to Service Delivery [CSSD]. The training was meant to engage the community so that we are responsible citizens and at the same time empowered us with knowledge on our rights. It is from this workshop were we volunteered to form groups and participate in restoring services in areas where we live.
