The Phunzirani Development Oragisations (PDO) in partnership with Outreach Scout Foundation (OSF) received support from the United Nations Development Programme Global Environmental Facility/ Small Grant Programme UNDP-GEF/SGP 2012 to 2013 to implement a project titled “Community Empowerment for Sustainable Land Management and Livelihood Improvement Project in Mzimba ” in selected areas of Choma, Madise and Enukweni, T/A Mtwalo in Mzimba district.

The initiatives being carried out by community themselves, volunteers, training in Beekeeping, Networking and Collaboration meetings, ongoing Monitoring and Review Meetings conducted by two organizations. The project was being implemented in Madise, Choma and Enukweni as selected catchment areas with a total population of 67,590 people in T/A Mtwalo in Mzimba district. The project aimed at empowering and building capacities of community structures to enhance sustainable utilization and management of their natural resource base and encourage them to a long-term food and energy security options and aimed at introducing and promoting both agro-forestry and non-forest based micro-enterprises among economically incapacitated and nutritionally in secured households within the project catchment area.
