Kadoma is a City in Mashonaland West Province of Zimbabwe. The town has 5 health centres, several private clinics and a government Hospital.

The programme on Child Protection started when Tsungirirai was still operating in Kadoma offering HIV and AIDS services. Under that the Tsungirirai project there was a component of training Child Protection Committees. This is where I was also chosen and trained. I then became one of the 6 members of ward 2 Child Protection Committee.

When the committee started working it picked a number of issues concerning children that were suffering directly or indirectly from the HIV and AIDS pandemic. Infected children in schools were stigmatised and other children isolated them. At one point a child was severely abused by one woman who later fled to South Africa but it was our Child Protection Committee that brought the issue to the attention of the police. To some orphans we offer education support through procurement of uniforms. We also source food hampers to those who are on treatment.

We have an alliance that include Kadoma City, Tsungirirai Group, Department of social Welfare and Ministry of Education Sports Art and Culture, Ministry of Home Affairs PLHIV and Ministry of Health and Child Care
