It has been noted that due to climatic change food production has decreased and this has imparted negatively on families. The effects have also disproportionately affected women. As a result The Salvation Army came up with the programme of training its members all over Zimbabwe to practise conservation farming, which they termed “Pfumvudza, Feed your family, Intwasa. ” This was done in partnership with an organisation ‘Foundations for Farming ’, that facilitated the training. Salvation Army members were invited from divisions in the territory of Zimbabwe. Training was to instil methods of farming which counter/mitigate effects of climate change these include farming with just a hoe ,mulching, use of organic fertilisers, without wastage on time, at standard and with joy, to produce high yields. After the training members were issued with inputs worth $50 to kick start the project in their respective communities. If well implemented this can feed a family of six for half a year. Members implemented the project in their communities and it was noted that high yields were realised despite the erratic rains.
