The Town Council of Eenhana has under section 94(1) of the Local Authorities Act, 1992 (Act 23 of 1992) as amended reserve the duties and responsibilities for the provision of trading places and regulation of street vending/trading activities on its Municipal area.
The concept of Local Economic Development (LED) has been employed by the Eenhana Town Council in order to address or mitigate the economic dipsraities that existed amongst local residents of the town, mainly women. Council has adopted the LED concept mainly in an attempt to seek ways and means of empowerment and of enclusion of local informal traders into the mainstream economy of the town.
Local Economic Development plays an important role in the development of the townâ € ™s economy. It was therfore an important step and initiative for the Council to implement since the town needed serious economic activities that could boost the townâ € ™s living standards, improve the socio-economic well being of the people and create opportunities for growth and development.
