Grootfontein Wellness Committee

The Grootfontein Wellness Committee was established in 2006, initiated by Grootfontein Municipality. The Municipality saw the need of addressing HIV and AIDS in Grootfontein in order to reduce the epidemic.
Grootfontein Municipality is being guided by National Policy on HIV/AIDS, Grootfontein Municipal HIV Policy, The draft National Wellness Policy and other legal frameworks.
Before the establishment of the Wellness Committee, the Municipality appointed a HIV/AIDS Co-ordinator to spearhead the activities internally with the staff members as well as externally with the community and stakeholders.
In 2014, the committee decided to reduce and prevent HIV infections in Young people through the Annual HIV Awareness Campaigns
