Brief description of the good practice and motivation as to why it is a good practice? Kariba is a resort town of about 26 000 people located in the Mashonaland West Province of Zimbabwe. It is situated right at the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. Its strategic location makes it very lucratic for border trading and unfortunately prostitution. Kariba is well known for fish farming, crocodile farming and electricity generation. Kariba is a town which assumes a controlling effect over the lives of its dwellers especially the young people and obviously the girl child is not spared from the impact of the socio-economic imbalances and happenings of life. The massive behavioural changes in the youths of the world over, have affected the Kariba youths and the girl child is heavily hit and affected. School children are a window of hope into the future. If they remain free of infection as they grow up, they could change the face of the HIV/AIDS epidemic within a generation. Its high time for the school children to raise their voices and SAY NO TO THE SUGAR MUMS AND SUGAR DADDIES,as these people are there to spoil their future education and infect the innocent children with HIV/AIDS. The reason why HIV/AIDS education should be taught in high schools and colleges is due to the growing trend of sexually active teens. Why Municipality of Kariba choose to teach HIV/AIDS in schools and colleges is because almost all young people attend school at some point in their life. Not all school children go to the same church or medical facilities, some go to the Apostles (Mapostori) who do not allow in their families to seek medical attention in clinics or hospitals. However, schools are a place where students can receive HIV/AIDS education. Parents are encouraged to teach their children about sex and the dangers of HIV/AIDS. Upon investigations council discovered that some parents are embarrassed to have the conversation of HIV/AIDS with their children due to moral beliefs and lack of information. HIV positive individuals are at times looked down upon. Ignorance leads to prejudice and it is important that the local authority clear up the misunderstandings about the disease.
