Botha-Bothe   Urban council is found in the Botha-Bothe district in Lesotho. It has an area of 1,767 km ² and a population of approximately 15,627 Botha-Bothe urban council was the 2nd council to join COE in the Botha-Bothe   district and was the runner up for the 1st District Summit held.

The council action plan that incorporates the Post 2015 SADC Gender Protocol, SDGs and other relevant targets. It is well known and has a high profile champion within the council.  The council has total number of 14 councillors of which five are women, however the mayor and deputy of the council are both men.

There are five committees in the council of which three of them are led by women.

The council has held several forums  on service deliveries with other departments,CBOs and NGOs and other stakeholders to mainstream gender issues and ensures equality in service delivery points

Also the council is already in collaboration with representative of district child and gender   protection unit which is a very body entity dealing with gender based violence.

The council also has held public gatherings concerning job creation prevalently road construction whereby the people living with disability (PWD) are also represented and well reimbursed.The council employs 56% women, 25% youth and 5% people with disabilities.

There is a provision for maternity leave for women of three months and nursing hours after first three months of maternity for three again. The council does not have a sexual harassment policy, but cases of such are reported directly at the nearest police stations. The council is disability-friendly and accessible for everybody as is situated just in town.

The council has arranged for women entrepreneurs to form a company so that they can benefit from tenders provided by the council. For example they can even start with supplying the council with toilet paper.

They had also encouraged women to register their construction companies and few have been engaged in waste management

Number  of men involved in care work supported by the council has increased from 10 to 15 and increased numbers of people who access ARV treatment and reduced death due to HIV and AIDS.
