Sanqebethu council is situated in Malefiloane village in the Mokhotlong district.
47% of the councilors are women. The chairperson of the social services committee is a woman and deputy chairperson of the council being a woman. The council also ensures that women, youth and PWD participate at public gatherings and in meetings.
The workplace is gender sensitive as trainings and workshops are held for the entire council irrespective of their gender. Moreover both women and men are allowed to express their views at public meetings
The total workforce of council staff is 10; seven are men and three are women. In the top management there are only men.
There is a provisions of three months maternity leave and three months of nursing hours after the first three months of maternity leave. However the council does not have sexual harassment policy but cases are reported at the police stations.

In order to work on local economic development the council allocates Market places equally to women, men, people with disabilities and the youth. People use such places even though it is in the rural area and businesses are not doing so well. Moreover.
The council holds several meetings for the community against burning of waste as it contributes pollution which leads to climate change. Some of the houses in the community are constructed of cans as part of recycling. Women, youth and PWD are involved in waste management by recycling waste and selling it for financial gain. So far 20 men, 55 women and youth has benefited from jobs created by the council.
The council also has Nursery & Orchard and some of willow trees planted & self planted along Mokhotlong river in Mateanong as a source of greenery against climate change.
The council works with the ministry of health to promote SRHR by hosting community dialogues and distributes female and male condoms and brings health services through mobile clinics to the community for free; and people have equal access to treatment.
To end violence, the council has community policing forums that work hand in hand with the council. The police and the National Security council to also in preventing violence. Also, campaigns and public gatherings are held where police are invited to raise awareness.
