The council is working with the Ministry of Gender in Thaba Tseka in order to see that the council is in line with gender national policy when they mainstream gender in their work. The council consists of 14 councillors; four are women while ten are men of which the mayor and the deputy are both men.
Thaba Tseka Urban council has four committees, three of which are chaired by men while only one chaired by woman. The council does not have young people at all.
Although the council has more men than women, it has been working very hard to see that young people, People living with the disability (PWD) and women are well represented and participate equally in the public gatherings .Between 51%-75% people are taking part in public gatherings and are part of the decisions taken.
The council hast total number of 13 employees being seven women and six men. And of two men and three women in the management. In terms of women in non-traditional areas of decision the council have Senior accountant, assistant procurement officer, assistant physical planner and human resource.
The council uses national policy in terms of maternity where allows women are given three months paid maternity leave and three months of nursing hours after returning back from maternity leave. The council does not have its own sexual harassment policy deals with sexual harassment cases using the local government act of 1997 section 71(1) (c) and as per disciplinary regulations. The council has disability user friendly building and it is accessible for everybody.

In terms of local development, the council does not have entrepreneurship finance schemes, but has market place which is mostly used by the women. And the community members also benefit from opportunities given by the council through its casual jobs and only in the year 2017, 278 people were hire; 148 men and 130 women.
In terms of recognizing and supporting care work, the council has managed to increase number of support groups members especially men from 0 to 12.
For climate change, the council has been working with the Ministry of Forestry and community members where people were planting fruit trees and erection of dams and trained in environmental protection and protection of water springs. Communities were encouraged to apply for land for agricultural purposes and tree planting in which peoples projects were subsidised by the central government; for example . Forestry department is giving out trees for those who have accessed land and those with fields for crop production work in partnership with government to produce crops and communities share equally the harvest.
