LIVINGSTONE CITY COUNCIL LIVING UP TO THE TASK OF GENDER MAINSTREAMING

Livingstone City Council has in the last two years developed to becoming the cleanest town in Zambia, improved its service delivery and women empowerment by increasing the number of women at both management and lower levels and engaging them in fields ordinarily considered to be male dominated such as Solid waste management unit and fire brigade. As a centre of excellence, Livingstone City Council has been working tirelessly to promote the tenets of the SADC protocol on Gender and Development. This has been done through the development of a Gender action plan which is aimed at ending gender violence, empowering women, improving service delivery.
