Since we have been starting COE process in October 2012, we realize that we have been taken advantages of being fully part of that process.
In fact, Gender Links has helped us to develop our own Gender Action Plans & to set up our Gender local Committee in order to achieve the 28 targets of the SADC Gender Protocol.
Local-decision makers, the Health Centre-the Police â € “ the Mayor â € “ The councillors â € “ the listening centre â € “ the Gender Local Committee are now working together to implement the council Gender Programs:
Before we have the listening Centre, the councillors were mostly in change of all marital problems â € “ social clashes and land dispute in the villages.
Now, the listening Centre, with the financial and technical assistance of the Ministry of Population & UNFPA, helps us to go through those problems.
Besides, since we have budgeted GBV programs in the Council budget it is easier to carry out projects related to gender issues. Struggle for gender equality is more relevant today than it ever was.
