The Makhoarane Community Council had a score of 51 the previous year which increased to 55 this year which means there is some change in the way the Council has been working on gender issues. Although this is the case, the score would have been higher had the women not taken the back seat but advocated for gender equality in the leadership of the Council by making sure that all Councillors were sensitive to the SADC Gender protocol and elected at least one person to leadership while electing the Chairperson and the deputy Chairperson.
