Umsimisi Community Project is implementing community dialogues in partnership with EGPAF through hosting community days at Chiefdom level in Swaziland. The collaboration brings together key stakeholders and service providers closer to the people in addressing health issues; especial prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV/ADS where the emphasis is on the importance of male participation/involvement and encouraging HIV couple testing
The key stakeholders involved include the ministry of health, service providers in HIV testing services as well as key community leaders at Chiefdom and constituency levels.
This makes it very much effective as participants are separated according to their gender and or age gapes to interrogate issues freely without fear or intimidation for community driven solutions to the problems faced.
The program also give the community members opportunity to taste for HIV on spot including couples; it also gives opportunity for members of the community to commit to positive change in health seeking behaviours, especially men.
