Marondera Municipality singled out carbon dioxide removal as one of its good practices in mitigation of climate change. This choice of the method was brought about by the sustainability and cost effectiveness of the method in reducing radioactive forcing. The premise behind this practice is to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere by enhancing natural sequestration which occurs through the natural process of photosynthesis by increasing the vegetation in the town. To this end the Municipality initiated 3 nurseries around the town, which are operated by individuals. The individuals were trained by the Municipality โ€™s Parks and Gardens Section to propagate various trees, shrubs and flowers for sale to residents of Marondera town. In addition, Municipality maintains a nursery where numerous plant species are grown for sale and for planting around the town, not only to beautify the environment but also to provide a natural carbon sink for reduction of greenhouse gases.
