To mark the Earth Day 2014, and in line with the ongoing campaign on ‘Tree Planting for Clean Air ’, organization of a Training of Trainers programme were held for officers of Community Centres, Social Welfare Centres, Women Centres, Village Councils and Municipal Councils.
To empower the officers a series of ½ day training of trainers sessions was organized on issues such as the importance of trees/plants, conservation practices, plant maintenance and mangrove ecosystem.
Following discussion with the Sugar Industry Labour Welfare Fund (SILWF), 7 zones were targeted which regrouped the different community centres and the SILWF proposed the venues for the activity (based on accommodation capacity for around 100 participants for each session).
Output:
During these sessions the participants were invited to organize sensitization activities at the level of their respective centres or localities to sensitise more people.
