Since we become COE and we sign off Action Plan as a result of Gender Links training in Gender Mainstreaming the Council decide to do follow up with the 20 women emerging entrepreneurs in partnership with Gender Links – organise the Emerging entrepreneurs in association and now they are able to run their own business with self-sustainable as a result of small contribution from them self. The council give them a small budget of ZAR 1.200,00 and they now have increased this amount. And also the Gender Mainstreaming the Council have now more women working as a part of staff.
The main objectives of this project is empowering women ending poverty. During the communities visit the Mayor challenge the Communities to be involved in the resolution of their problems especially the women.
The main activities are:
The project has benefited about 200 women with 170 active groups. The project reached 370 beneficiaries. The In kind contributions amounted to $1 700. The total budget for the project is $1 700.
The results of the project are being measured through Gender and Social service Councillors Department, meet with the women. The key challenge that hinders the project is the source of funding.
Women are now running their own business. Mrs Dalia she now have 3 shops that sell clothes in the Village. Before the program she use to sell door by door. Men are now supportive especially that we have challenges with climate changes and economic crises, they see the values of the involvement of their wife to raise the family.
Mr Langa Dalia’s husband he come and thanks the Councillor for the opportunities the council give the women.
Gender Violence, very few cases from those group of woman. There is good reputation among the community. The development will take place with involvement of all.
What makes the project easy to replicate is because of having more women involved in development activities.
