In Swaziland NCPâ??S have become a solution to the generation of children in adversity and these are run by care-givers who are volunteers but approved by the organization. They provide a place where the children at risk and vulnerable can have opportunity to play with other children in safe place, also informal education and psychosocial support.
Being one of the volunteers with AMICAALL Manzini, I identified 5 girls and 3 boys who come to the Zakhele Care-Point for their daily meals, but were not at school at the same time could not attend the ECCD because of their age. Although government introduced FPE, these children could not afford the top-up fees and school uniforms as the children come from improvised backgrounds. Therefore I saw the need to offer to teach them basic life skills so that the cycle and the trap of poverty could be broken. It is important that children are given their right to education as stated in article 2, 17, and 28 of The Convention on the Right of the Child.
