The District Council of Riviere du Rempart is located in a small village in Mauritius called Mapou. During the colonial era, Mapou Village has vividly witnessed the introduction of train facilities. A rich heritage has been left behind to be proudly admired by the local people and the tourists. Le Chateau de Labourdonnais is one of the jewels in the North and a major tourist attraction. Le Pepiniere- It is a haven for exotic and endemic plants and fruits available for sales. The ancient and beautiful church near the palace is usually known vows to be fulfilled and is crowded with devotees. The District Council of Riviere du Rempart as other Councils promotes the social, economic, environmental and cultural well-being and improve the overall quality of people in the local community. The various departments; Administration Department, Finance Department, Public Infrastructure Department, Health Department and Welfare Department works together thus fulfilling the mission,Efficient and effective services to meet customer expectation for the continual improvement of the quality of life in the north.
