During the year 2009 Mossel Bayâ € ™s HIV prevalence was about 17% and the death rate due to HIV was a big challenge. To address this matter we as an organization decided to zoom in onto problems that children will experience during this epidemic. The Department of Social Development then had a tender to provide psycho social support to orphans and vulnerable children. We then tender for this proposal and received it. With the help of DSD we trained 6 facilitators to run the psycho social support groups (PSSG). Our organization then approaches 7 primary schools in the sub-district to introduce the project and request them to refer children who experience problems in school due to loss and grieve. Since the inception in 2009 a total of 280 children went through the project. We receive positive feedback from parents, guardians and schools about the impact that the groups have on the children.
