The National Council of Women in Madagascar (CNFM) is an umbrella organization the members of which are womenâ € ™s associations of all origins working in Madagascar. The organization is non-political, non-religious, and plays a role of consultation and mobilization among womenâ € ™s organizations.
CNFM is a member of the International Council of Women (ICW), which was created in 1888 in the United States. It is a non-governmental organization made up of the National Councils of Women in various countries, with a consultative status with such international organizations as the United Nations.

A world and a nation free of discrimination and violence against women, fostering their participation in development at all levels and in all sectors.
Our mission
Ensure that the voices of Malagasy women are heard at national and international levels, and that the commitments made to achieve gender equality are fully implemented.
To that end:
Á¯ ‚ CNFM works in collaboration with associations in all activities that foster development, womenâ € ™s empowerment, and recognition of their real contribution in Malagasy society.
Á¯ ‚ CNFM advocates with the Government, political figures and institutions at national and international levels to ensure that equality of rights and opportunities among women and men is achieved, and that womenâ € ™s interests are taken into account by decision-makers.
Our objectives
Á¯ ‚ Promote womenâ € ™s rights and defend their interests, so that they are recognized as agents of positive change in our society and benefit from it
Á¯ ‚ Build the capacity of women and empower them so that they can efficiently meet their social, economic and citizen responsibilities.
Our strategies
Á¯ ‚ Build such conditions as may foster gender equality
Á¯ ‚ Enlist women in all their diversity into the struggle
Á¯ ‚ Fight poverty and all forms of violence, discrimination, marginalization and exclusion against women
Á¯ ‚ Develop links of solidarity with womenâ € ™s groups worldwide.
