The Swaziland Young Womenâ € ™s Network has a program on womenâ € ™s political participation. It aims at advocating for equal political participation and representation for women. This programs sensitises women from different constituencies on the importance of womenâ € ™s political participation, offers civic education to communities and prepares women and get them excited and cultivates the emotional preparedness for political participation. The campaign further capacitates women on issues and gaps policy level affecting in particular the livelihoods of women and children. Post the elections, the programme seeks to engage government in different forums on womenâ € ™s participation with the view to persuading her to facilitate an enabling environment for womenâ € ™s participation for 2018 but also to implement the constitution on the special measures to be taken if women participation falls below the 30% quota. Currently, the project is aggressively involved in a national campaign that seeks to call government to realise womenâ € ™s political participation as a constitutional right for women, this is in line with the SADC Protocol on Gender and Development.
