One of the identified key problems was the highlighted issue of high HIV infection rates which were being noted in specific areas within Mosselbay, the infection rates were raising particularly in the more vulnerable communities. Civil society organisations, stakeholders then decided to gather collectively to form the Door to Door Outreach program which was spearheaded by Mossel Bay Municipality. The aim of the Door to Door campaign was to share information about HIV/AIDS and reach communities where there is often limited access to information; the Door to Door Campaign therefore ensures that all communities within Mosselbay receive the information accordingly and also allowing the community an opportunity to be actively participating with issues of HIV/AIDS. To empower the community and women; for them to take responsibility as was requested in this yearâ € ™s theme: Taking responsibility towards a zero percentage HIV infection rate and zero percentage HIV related death rate. When people are properly informed they take informed decisions and have a better quality of life. Communities are normally naÁƒ ¯ve when it comes to issues of health due to not being informed.
