Maseru, 15 June: As the Lesotho Gender Protocol@Work Summit came to a close last week, Deputy Minister of Gender, Youth and Sports- Marefuoe ‘Muso spoke at the awards ceremony encouraging gender drivers of change to keep up the good work.

Maurice, 25 juin: Les organisations membres de la SADC Gender Protocol Alliance, réunies hier matin Á  l’hôtel Gold Crest pour passer en revue l’application du Protocole de la SADC sur le Genre et le Développement dans les 15 pays de l’Afrique australe, demandent au gouvernement mauricien de signer ce Protocole qui met l’homme et la femme pied d’égalité.

‘Politics is a dirty game’ – a well-known saying, that may ring true, but hinders people’s electoral participation, either as a voter or a contesting leader. However non-participation is more of a reality for women. This unequal participation is not only due to their unequal political and economic standing in society, but due to patriarchal attitudes that allow husbands to dictate their wives political choices.
