The Island nation of Mauritius has the highest number of media houses that have opted for Gender policies. These are the Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), Le Defi Media Group and La Sentinelle. The same media houses have also drafted gender aware HIV and AIDS policies.

L’alcoolisme chez les femmes preoccupe des services de Sante publique. 71% des femmes hospitalisees pour une cure de desintoxication dans cet etablissement ont fait une rechute soit 468 patientes sur 657. Les deces dus a l’alcoolisme dans le groupe d’age de 40 ans et plus concernent 13% des femmes au cours des cinq dernieres annees. 24% des femmes alcooliques hospitalisees a Brown Sequard ont entre 30 ans et 39 ans.
Le Premier a observe que Pamela Patten n’etant pas satisfaite des conditions proposees par la MBC, a ete informee des circonstances qui ont mene la corporation a demander sa mise a la retraite. L’opposition questionne cependant si celle n’a pas ete mise a l’ecart du fait qu’elle ne figurait pas dans les bons papiers du directeur general.
La crĂ©ation prochaine d’un observatoire de partiĂ© a Ă©tĂ© au coeur des discussions en dĂ©but de semaine entre la ministre de l’EgalitĂ© des genres et le nouvel ambassadeur de France a Maurice. La France dispose deja d’un observatoire de paritĂ©. Il en ressort que les statistiques officielles aidera a une meilleure idee d’ensemble.
