Johannesburg, 24 April: At the official opening of the South Africa SADC Protocol@Work Summit yesterday at Kopanong Hotel and conference centre in Johannesburg, UNWomen’s Programme Specialist- Susan Kimathi in her keynote address praised the 5050 and post 2015 campaign. She said that UNWomen is privileged to be a part of the summit and to be partnered with organisations like Gender Links who help carry out the mandate of UNWomen. She also went on to highlight three crucial factors needed to achieve gender quality, adding that “echelons of power that make the decisions need to understand what they stand to lose if they don’t engage women.”
