Response and protection- provision of a safe, caring environment that respects confidentiality and wishes of the survivor, learn the immediate needs, give information about services available, to ensure that perpetrators are prosecuted and also awareness to service providers on how to handle a girl child and interviews to survivors to be in a private place.
Key activities I give a lot of gender sensitization in my work. I reach out to the community, raising awareness with the hope that knowledge will bring change. I also tabulate findings of level of awareness through research and house to house campaigns. I also con duct basic counselling to couples and individuals that are affected by violence. But because the organisation had not given me much courses of counselling it limits my access to in depth.
Key challenges Gender stereo types are still deeply rooted in women and the girl child making it difficult for us to help women break out of the mental prison and become self empowered. Women still believe that they are to be ruled by men.( Male dominance). This is drawn from the attitude survey conducted in Kazungula.

Capacity building We conduct training and sensitization workshops to our stakeholder, we work in unison with magistrate, red cross , hospital, gender Affairs to reach out to the community we all serve. We also do the same sensitization at individual level and we target the girl child at the schools, we inspire them to have empowered women as their role models which helps them become better future gender champions.
Lessons learned and shared Light about G.B.V to the community is there as long as we put much effort to continue equipping them with information, we will have a community free of violence. We will continue doing it even to the best. we will also bench mark from our neighboring countries during network activities, NAMBOT meetings. Survivors are given private rooms during interviews as a result of my capacity encouragement and building to my colleagues. The community now whether male or female does not feel embarrassed to speak out against G.B.V.
Next Steps To develop and run my own Non governmental Organisation that its agenda will be to assist the community to accept and accommodate the structural changes in our country both at individual and community level. The organisation will be responsible for counselling, retreats, campaigns and so forth. And also continue to sensitize the community as well as relevant stakeholders on gender issues.
