“From this training I learnt that money is not the only important thing in life. The love and affection I received is much more important than the happiness of having plenty of money”.

I joined the training in 2014 and I was instantly hooked. It was nothing like other courses I have previously taken. The inspiring words of Sabrina, the smiling faces of the staff of GL, the encouraging words of Anushka; everything was and still remains so precious. The training has been a turning point in my life. My most memorable experience was when I was a runner up as emerging entrepreneur at the National Summit 2015. I was thrilled to the core.

I have not yet started my business, but I have it in mind and intend to start it very soon. I am in fact studying and taking courses in child care. As I plan to open a kids’ club once I have finished studying, I know that I will start my business with a solid foundation. Before undertaking the Gender Links courses, I used to work in a hotel. I was appointed as a hostess in the restaurant and then became a hostess at the mini club and finally supervisor at the same club. I worked everywhere, and was not afraid to take up any job. In 2012, I was fired by the hotel management. In fact it motivated me to pursue the career I had always wanted. I have worked with children and love to be with them. I did not give up and continued to follow training in this area. I wanted to expand my knowledge, so that afterwards I could even open a kindergarten rather than a kids’ club. I am actually working as a manager of a kindergarten at Bel Ombre.

From this training I learnt that money is not the only important thing in life. The love and affection I received are much more important than the happiness of having plenty of money. For instance, I am working as a manager but I am on probation. Thus, I do not receive the salary that I should. Yet I am more than happy. I feel that the children need me. I receive more adoration and warmth from these children than from my own children. My brother and my mother have always been by my side, encouraging me to achieve more success in my life.

My only grief in life is my children. I want to give them unconditional love but they never listen to me and I am not important in their eyes. Nevertheless I have the will power and strength to achieve what I want from life. My dream is to have my own business. I want to open a kids’ club and make my children proud of me. I want to set an example for all women who are in distress and show them that with hard work and determination one can improve one’s situation and achieve success and fulfil one’s dreams.
