Give a short history of the leader | I have been chosen to represent many people in my work,especially being women and chiefs representative in my council. This also gave me strength and confidence,I have learned that women still have knowledge and power to lead,why am I saying this? It is because many people like to discourage us in many things that women do not have power. |
Objectives | As a leader I have goals of reducing poverty in women specifically, encourage them to be involved in societies formed in the community,to create their own businesses (entrepreneurship). |
Key activities | I work as a chief where I provide people with services that are based on home affairs documents,their rights on land and I do public gatherings to share with my community what I have learned as well as meetings concerning our villages behaviors and improvements we need.Including conflict resolutions. |
Key challenges | There are still people who do not understand especially men,they think we need to promote women only.There are also ones who did not involve in the plans that we set as community the isolate themselves. |
Results |

Change at the individual level | I have changed because I have more skills and knowledge and I act better than before. I developed positive attitude towards women when it comes to leadership. Center of conflict resolution took part in my life changing as well. |
Evidence of change at the individual level | Many people around me used to be happy as they see me and telling me how I developed more strength than before. One of the person who can testify is Mathebeeamang Masupha,she is a chieftess. |
Change at the household level | In my family,men used to be ones who make decisions in family matters but then after I teaching them about gender equality and that every person have rights. I always see changes because from my family members and we discuss the matters together. |
Evidence of change at the household level | They include me whenever there are tough discussions or situations. Mookho Mphatsoe is working at local government as community council secretariat. |
Change at institutional level | Tsepang Motselekatse is a councilor who is always asking me what had happened with women councilor,they were not supportive to each other but now he is surprised because they are always empowering themselves and he admitted that all these changes came with me through Gender Links. |

Change at a policy level | There were already policies included concerning women’s rights at the leadership level,and we added things that can help us to reduce abuse. |

Capacity building | I got a training from Gender Links about gender equality and justice,that is why I am now gender aware.I am proud say I am able to solve conflicts among people and to do things lie public administration.I built other women’s confidences. |
Lessons learned and shared | I have learned very important things about leadership,human rights and gender equality,in the process I had challenges and I still have them but they make me strong and empowered. |
Next Steps | I have a desire of making different groups where I will gather girls,boys,men and women in to their groups to teach and share all I have learned including gender equality and how to stop abusing others as to improve our nation and equip them with important skills. |
